Minnami no Sato started as a farmers community visitor center in Kamogawa City. Now it is run by MUJI, a popular fashion brand known for its “minimalist” philosophy. The renovated farmers’ market sells local farming produce such as vegetables and dairy products, but MUJI adds stylish shelves to make the merchandise look even more attractive. Together with a café, a library, and a MUJI shop in the annex, this is the place to taste the country atmosphere in a stylish MUJI way.

みんなみの里は都市と農村の交流ターミナルとして鴨川市にオープンしましたが、現在は「ミニマリスト」哲学で知られる「無印良品」が運営しています。直売所では地元の新鮮なお野菜や乳製品などの農産品が販売されていますが、おしゃれな棚にディスプレイされ、さらに魅力的。カフェ、図書室、そして別館にはMUJIショップも並設され、MUJI風に田舎の良さが見直せる、すてきな空間になっています。

The current pandemic doesn’t allow you to get out and about. Disappointed? Just look around you! No matter where you are, if you live on this precious earth, you are blessed with countless beautiful things, and they are right at your doorstep. You don’t have to go anywhere special. Rice paddies with newly planted seedlings, tree branches with bright fresh green leaves, and dandelions on the side of the road. Take a deep breath, be patient, and appreciate what you have.

コロナウイルス感染拡大の状況下、外出規制が続きます。がっかりですか？周りを見渡してみましょう。この地球に住んでいるかぎり、私たちは数えられないくらいの美しいものに囲まれています。それは、あなたのすぐ隣にあるのです。特別なところに出かける必要はありません。稲が植えられたばかりの田んぼ、新緑の葉っぱをつけた木の枝、道ばたのタンポポ。深呼吸をして、忍耐強く待ち、いま享受できる環境を感謝するときですね。

Nago-ji Temple in Tateyama, one of the oldest temples in Chiba, celebrated its 1300th anniversary in 2017. The main building today is the vermillion colored Kannondo Hall built in 1758. It houses the principal image of the Thousand Armed Goddess of Mercy, thought to be constructed in the late Heian period. In addition, the stunning dragon carvings near the fanlight catch your eye. Behind the buildings is a nice path that takes you to the top of the hill.

那古寺

千葉県内最古の寺院のひとつ、館山市那古の那古寺は、2017年に創建1300年祭を祝ったばかりです。境内の中心となる朱色の観音堂は1758年に再建されたもの。観音堂に納められている本尊は平安後期作の千手観音菩薩です。欄間のりっぱな龍の彫り物も目を引きます。観音堂の裏山には散策路が整備されていて、丘の上から館山市内の景観を楽しむことができます。

Once a prefectural museum of maritime folklore, the facility is now a commercial complex popular with tourists. Go up to the deck for a great view of Tateyama Bay, and have lunch at the restaurant. You can do some shopping at the farmer’s market, then learn about local fish at the small aquarium. The facility also preserves a part of the exhibit from the prefectural museum, where you can learn about the fishing community that flourished in the past.

“渚の駅”たてやま
かつて、海と暮らす人々の文化を展示する千葉県立安房博物館でしたが、現在は多くの観光客が訪れる商業施設となっています。デッキに上がって館山湾を一望、レストレンでお昼をいただいたら、一階のマルシェではお土産をさがしてみましょう。プチ水族館では、近海の魚達にあうこともできます。また、旧博物館には、当時の展示の一部が保存されており、昔の人々の暮らしの様子をうかがい知ることができます。

The frost-free areas of Minamiboso allow flowers to bloom much earlier than in other parts of the Kanto area, thus attracting people who enjoy the early spring. The patches of bright color against the blue ocean are extremely picturesque.　However, the violent typhoon that hit the area last September caused many flower farmers to give up growing flowers this spring. If you want to see this beautiful scenery again next year, you can always support them by visiting the area.

白間津の花畑
無霜地帯のため関東の他の地域よりいち早く路地花が満開となる南房総には、早春を楽しむ人々が数多く訪れます。青い海を背景にした花畑のパッチワークは本当に絵のようです。しかし、昨年地域をおそった台風で、今年は多くの花農家が花の生育を断念したそう。来年また美しい光景を見たいと思ったら、現地を訪問することで地域応援ができますよ。
