「よい旅を、またあう日まで」

Happy Trailsは、1950年代にアメリカで人気のあった「歌うカウボーイ」ロイ・ロジャース主演の、テレビプログラムのエンディング曲です。以来、アメリカではお別れをいうときの定番ソングなんだそうです。Trailsというのは、舗装されていない山道などをいいます。ですから、Happy trails to youは、「よい道中を」という感じですね。Who cares about the clouds when we’re together? Just sing a song and bring the sunny weather. 「ぼくたちが一緒なら、曇りなんて気にならないね。歌を歌ってお日さまを呼んでこよう」。カウボーイが口笛を吹きながらゆったり馬を歩ませて進む光景が目に浮かぶような曲です。
