Dr. Isono, special advisor at Kazusa DNA Research Institute and professor-emeritus of Kobe University, paid a goodwill visit to Monterey, California, this January. His intention was partly to help reinforce the tie between the Awa Museum and the Maritime and History Museum of Monterey and partly to see by himself the place where a number of people from the Boso area settled down and were actively engaged in fishery industry more than a century ago. He will talk about his personal impression of Monterey by showing slides of pictures that he took during the visit.

かずさDNA研究所参与で神戸大学名誉教授の磯野先生。安房博物館とモントレー海事歴史博物館との国際交流の促進に協力し、同時に100年以上前に房総から沢山の人々が移住して懸命になって漁業に従事した場所を自分の目で確かめたいという意図から、今年1月モントレーを訪れました。先生の目を通したモントレーという地について訪問中に撮影した写真などを交えて語っていただきます。
