多くのミュージシャンがカバーしている名曲「ムーン・リバー」ですが、やはり名画「ティファニーで朝食を」でギターを弾きながら歌うオードリー・ヘップバーンでしょうか！もともと同映画のために、ヘンリー・マンシーニとジョニー・マーサーがヘップバーンの声域にあわせて書き下ろしたものだそうです。歌詞はシンプルでどちらかというと抽象的でありながら、同時に情景的でもあります。Moon river, wider than a mile, I’m crossing you in style some day… 「ムーン・リバー　その広い川面　いつか堂々と渡るんだ」。静かな水面に月影きらめく川が、目に浮かびませんか？
